Comfort & Healing
A season of illness is long and frightening for the patient and for the family at their side. Scripture urges us to pray together: "Is any sick among you? ... let them pray over him" (James 5:14). Asking for healing while entrusting all to a good God — here are prayers and verses for patients and families to hold onto.

We ask earnestly for healing. At the same time, Scripture calls us to trust the God who works all things for good. Holding "with his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5), we can pray in the peace of entrusting the outcome to God rather than in fear that tries to control it.
Keep visits short and quiet, mindful of the patient's condition. Rather than long advice or judging their struggle, short words like "I'm praying for you" or "I'm here with you," along with simply being present, comfort the most. Follow hospital infection and visiting rules; if visiting is difficult, a short message or prayer is enough.
"Lord, have mercy on this one in pain. Give wisdom to the medical team, and pour out recovery and peace on body and mind. Replace fear with faith that trusts You. In Jesus' name, Amen." Before surgery or a test, a one-line prayer while holding their hand brings great strength.
