New Testament · character
Thomas
The doubting disciple who confessed, "My Lord and my God."
Thomas was the disciple who said he could not believe without seeing the resurrection for himself, but upon meeting the risen Jesus he made the clearest confession of faith.
"Unless I See, I Will Not Believe"
Even when the other disciples said they had seen the risen Lord, Thomas said he could not believe until he put his finger into the nail marks in his hands. It was an honest doubt (John 20).
The Greatest Confession
Eight days later Jesus appeared again and said, "Put your finger here." Thomas confessed, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
