Old Testament · character
Samson
The strongest yet weakest of the judges — restored at the last.
Samson was set apart as a Nazirite and given immense strength, but he fell through lust and pride, only to be restored in his final moment. He is a tragic judge.
Strength Set Apart
Set apart as a Nazirite even before birth, he bore the sign of never cutting his hair and was strong enough to tear a lion apart with his bare hands. Yet he squandered that strength on impulse.
The Fall and a Final Prayer
He gave up his secret to Delilah and was mocked, his hair shorn and his eyes gouged out. But at the end he prayed, "Strengthen me just once more," and in his death dealt the Philistines their greatest blow (Judges 16).
