The Exodus
The archetype of Old Testament salvation — from slavery to freedom.
The Exodus was the event in which Israel was delivered from slavery in Egypt by the power of God. It is the archetype of salvation that the entire Old Testament remembers again and again.
The Passover
On the night of the final plague, death "passed over" every house whose doorposts were marked with the blood of a lamb. The Passover became Israel's most important festival, and in the New Testament it is connected to the cross of Jesus.
Crossing the Red Sea
At a dead end — the Egyptian army behind, the sea ahead — God parted the waters. This deliverance, experienced at the place of despair, became the foundation of their faith ever after.
