How can I be saved?

Salvation is not earned by good works, rituals, or religious performance. It is the free gift of God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ — trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of your sins.

Salvation is a gift, not a wage

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Every religion of human effort says "do"; the gospel says "done." God does not weigh our good deeds against our bad ones — by that standard "there is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10). Salvation begins and ends with what God has done, which is why no one can boast and no one is beyond hope.

Faith means trusting Christ, not just agreeing with facts

When the Philippian jailer asked, "What must I do to be saved?", the answer was startlingly simple: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:30-31). "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9). Believing is not merely admitting that Jesus existed — it is resting your whole weight on Him, the way you rest on a chair, trusting His cross as the full payment for your sin.

What about good works, then?

Good works are not the root of salvation but its fruit. A saved person does good "which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10) — out of gratitude, not to earn what has already been given. No feast, ritual, or membership can add to the finished work of Christ: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If you are asking this question sincerely, you can pray honestly right now — admit your sin, ask Christ to be your Savior and Lord, and then find a Bible-teaching church to grow in.
